KiloSahihi/Logistics and exports

Logistics and exports

The weight that clears the port and the road.

Freight is priced, cleared and fined by weight. A container needs a verified gross mass before it ships and a truck needs to be under the axle limit before it hits the road. KiloSahihi produces both numbers from the scale, checks them before the truck leaves, and puts them on the document that needs them.

Container export

A container from the packing shed to the vessel.

  1. 1

    Stuffing

Cartons, pallets or bags are weighed onto the container at the packing shed or the CFS, so the cargo weight is known before the doors close.

  2. 2

    Verified gross mass

The loaded truck is weighed on the bridge and the truck and chassis tare subtracted, or the container is weighed on a container scale, giving the VGM the shipping line requires under SOLAS.

  3. 3

    VGM declaration

The VGM, the container number, the method and the weighing time are on the ticket and in the export file sent to the forwarder or the line.

  4. 4

    Axle and gross check

Axle weights and gross vehicle mass are checked against the legal limits before the truck leaves for the port, so it is not stopped at a road weighbridge.

  5. 5

    Gate and photo

ANPR reads the plate, the container number is captured and the truck is photographed leaving, matched to the booking.

  6. 6

    Reconciliation

Weights per container, per customer and per transporter are reconciled with the booking and invoiced.

Depots and fleets

One weighing system across the depot, the fleet and the port run.

Transporter fleets

Every truck weighed in and out of the depot, with load per trip, per customer and per route, and overload flagged before departure.

Axle weighbridges

Axle-by-axle weighing with East African axle configurations, gross vehicle mass and axle-group limits checked automatically.

Container VGM

Verified gross mass by weighing the loaded truck less the tare, or the container on a container scale, with the declaration on the ticket.

Bulk and break-bulk exports

Tea, coffee, soda ash, nuts and produce weighed onto trucks and into containers against the export contract, with the weight certificate per lot.

ANPR and container recognition

Plates and container numbers read by camera and matched to bookings, with a photo on every weighing.

Weight certificates

Weight certificates and VGM declarations printed and sent electronically to forwarders, lines and customers.

Integration

Weights post to the transport management system, the forwarder's system or the ERP as tickets close.

Depots and CFS

Container freight stations, inland depots and cargo sheds in one dashboard with per-site users and reports.

Works offline

Bridges and cargo scales keep weighing when the link is down and sync when it returns.

Overloading

Under the limit before the road weighbridge.

An overloaded truck is fined, off-loaded or impounded at the road weighbridge, and the transporter carries the cost and the delay. Weighing every truck out of the depot on an axle bridge, with the axle-group and gross limits for its configuration checked automatically, turns the road weighbridge into a formality. The same check at a customer's site or a CFS catches the problem before the truck is on the highway, and the record shows the transporter loaded within the limit if a dispute follows.

  • Axle-group and gross vehicle mass checked per configuration
  • Overload flagged at the depot, not at the road weighbridge
  • Record per trip showing the truck left within the limit
  • Reports per transporter, per route and per customer

Questions

Frequently asked

What is VGM and how does the software produce it?
Verified gross mass is the weight of a packed container that the shipper must declare to the shipping line before loading, under the SOLAS convention. The software weighs the loaded truck and subtracts the truck and chassis tare, or weighs the container directly on a container scale, and puts the VGM with the method and time on the ticket and the declaration.
Does it check axle loads?
Yes. On an axle weighbridge each axle is weighed in turn, the axle-group and gross vehicle mass are computed and checked against the legal limits for the vehicle's configuration, and an overload is flagged before the truck leaves.
Does it cover air cargo too?
Air cargo has its own page: ULD tare and build-up, loose pieces, dimensional lines, chargeable weight and IATA special handling codes on the air waybill.
Can it read container numbers?
Yes, with a container recognition camera at the gate, in the same way ANPR reads number plates. Both are matched to the booking.
Does it integrate with our transport management system?
Weights post to transport, forwarding and ERP systems through their APIs as tickets close, and weight certificates can be sent electronically.
