Before the first truck
- Power on the weighbridge PC or tablet and the scale indicator.
- With the deck empty, confirm the live display reads near zero and shows LIVE. If it shows OFFLINE or STANDBY, see the troubleshooting table before weighing anything.
- If the display does not return to zero with nothing on the deck, ask a supervisor to zero it. Do not weigh on a bridge that reads a load with the deck empty.
- Confirm the printer is on, has paper and is connected.
- Sign in with your own username. Every weight is recorded against the operator who took it.
Reading the live display
The weight panel is the reference for every capture. LIVE in green means the scale is connected and reading. STANDBY or OFFLINE means there is no reading. STABLE means the reading has settled and is safe to capture; while it shows Reading, the truck or its engine is still moving, so wait. A mode badge shows STANDARD, MULTI-DECK or AXLE, set for the station. If MANUAL appears, manual entry has been enabled by an administrator; see below for when it may be used.
First weight, truck arriving
- Start a new weighing and choose the weighing type if the station asks for one: inbound, outbound, weigh in and out, or public.
- Drive the vehicle fully onto the deck. All wheels on the platform, none on the approach. Wait for STABLE.
- Fill in the fields the site uses: registration, account, commodity, driver, and any document number. Where an ANPR camera is fitted the plate is read for you; check it against the truck.
- An unknown plate, driver or account can be added on the spot from the field. Add it once, correctly; it is saved to the master list.
- Capture the first weight. The ticket moves to the Pending list. The weight is read from the indicator; you never type it.
- A public weighing completes in one pass and prints immediately.
Second weight, truck leaving
- Find the vehicle in Pending and open its second weight. If the system says the vehicle already has a pending weight, do not start a new first weight; complete the open one.
- Drive fully onto the deck and wait for STABLE.
- Where an ANPR camera is fitted, the system warns if the plate it reads does not match the open transaction. Stop and check before capturing.
- Complete any second-weight fields the site uses, then capture. The net is calculated and the completion screen opens with print options.
The interlock
Where the station uses the interlock, the next capture is blocked until the vehicle has fully driven off the deck and the reading has dropped below a threshold the administrator set. A banner shows while it is engaged. It exists to stop a double weigh or a partial roll-off from being captured as a new weighing. Wait for the deck to clear; do not try to work around it.
When a weight may be typed
Only when the scale connection is unavailable, only when an administrator has enabled manual weighing for the station, and only with a supervisor's approval. Tickets captured this way are flagged as manual on the ticket, in the reports and in the ERP posting. If the indicator is live, the weight comes from the indicator.
Printing and reprinting
- The first print of a ticket is stamped ORIGINAL. Every later print is stamped DUPLICATE.
- To reprint, open the ticket from Records and print again. The ticket shows the operator who took each weight and a printed-by line for whoever printed it.
- Formats follow the station setup: A4, thermal or dot-matrix.
When something does not look right
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Display shows OFFLINE or STANDBY | Check the indicator is on and cabled. On Android, reconnect the scale over Bluetooth. If it stays offline, call the administrator. |
| Reading will not settle | Wait for the truck and engine to stop moving. Capture only on STABLE. |
| Capture button is disabled | There is no valid weight yet. Confirm the load is on the deck and the reading is above the minimum. |
| This vehicle has a pending weight | The truck already has an open first weight. Go to Pending and take its second weight. |
| Interlock banner will not clear | Drive the vehicle fully off the scale so the reading drops below the threshold. |
| Ticket did not reach the ERP or cloud | Posting retries on its own. Report it if it persists; the administrator can check the dispatch log. |
| Deck reads a weight with nothing on it | Do not zero it yourself. Report it; something is on the deck or the bridge needs attention. |
End of shift
- Check the Pending list. Every open first weight should have a reason to still be open.
- Sign out. The next operator signs in under their own name.
The full Operator SOP, the User Guide and the Maintenance Guide are supplied with every KiloSahihi installation, in English and French. Operator training on site is part of the rollout.
Questions
- Why can't I type the weight?
- Because the number on the ticket must be the number on the bridge. The weight is read from the indicator and locks only when stable. Manual entry is a licensed exception for when the scale connection is down, and it is flagged everywhere the ticket goes.
- What if the truck has a trailer that does not fit on the deck?
- Do not weigh it half on. On a twin bridge the software weighs across both decks; on a single deck the truck and trailer are weighed as two passes. Ask the supervisor how the station handles it.
- Can I fix a ticket after it has printed?
- Edits and voids are logged with who, when and why, and the original values are kept. Ask a supervisor; do not start a fresh weighing to replace a wrong one.
- How do I know the bridge is reading correctly?
- It reads zero with the deck empty and returns to zero after every truck. Calibration and verification are the administrator's job and are tracked with due dates; if the bridge drifts through the day or disagrees with a buyer's bridge, report it.
